Well damn, has it been a long time!

17 01 2009

Indeed it has! Sorry to leave you guys hanging, oh and a late Happy New Year!

So many mumbo jumbo has caught up with me, and I had no time to hop on to the net, let along blog. So what have I been up to?  Well the most signficant, would be purchasing both the, iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch 2G – both sitting in cases, thanks to it’s nature of being prone to scuffs, scratches etc – More on those later.

Expect to see major overhauls in the next few days, as OMGBBQ (sadly) will no longer exist. Instead, expect to see the site renamed to “EverythingGizmo” It will co-exist with a new YouTube account, which will bring you How To’s, Unboxings, Guides, Hacks All that fun stuff. I’ve uploaded a video, to kickstart the channel – How to install Mac OS X cursors. You know you love them, don’t deny it, go ahead and click the video below for the quick tutorial and setup.

All videos are avaliable in widescreen, and I’m working on render quality. Don’t mind the intro by the way, it’s a bit corny…I’ll be working on a new intro. Videos will be uploaded as many times as possible per week, expect to see at miniumum 3 videos per week, most likely more.

I’m also very excited and anticipating “redsnow”  Supposedly a codename to the 2G touch JAILBREAK. Expect to see more of that in my blog and once released, a video of the process will be up ASAP.

So, the content is meaty at the moment! Check back regularly to keep up to date with my blogs and video, thus subscribe!  I shall be creating a Twitter account for EveythingGizmo to keep you guys up to date with all the latest updates.

Welcome to the New World: Portal

2 08 2008

As part of the Orange Box set, Portal was included along with Half Life 2: Episode 2 (as seen in the Gaming Journey page) and Team Fortress 2. As i started yesterday, i was positive on the point that i wouldn’t enjoy Portal as the whole game is based on LOGIC, the only motive behind playing Portal was the link to the Half Life storyline which i find…compelling (I’ll go in-depth about this link in the future). 15mins in and it isn’t actually that bad, albeit there is no…’storyline’.

Yes, it is logical, but with a fun twist. I expect to finish the game soon, and thus another conquered game will be added to my Gaming Journey page. Check back soon!

Half Life 2: Episode 2 – My Gaming Journey

1 08 2008

Wooooww! That was one hell of a ride, where do i start?! Well, background history on the Half Life series (My point of view that is) – I didn’t enjoy Half Life to be honest, frankly I’m not sure why, i hated the puzzle solving that’s for sure. Half Life 2 was the breakout, it was the point when i started to immerse myself into the storyline, okay more like Half Life 2 immersed ME into the storyline. Although i really didn’t enjoy the puzzle solving, i would usually get headaches and end up taking breaks or resort to… ‘noclip 1′ , hehehe =) besides that, the story was the driving force between the start and the stop. I started to realize how… robust this game is at Episode 1, but it just finished before i started.

Now, here i am – just finished Episode 2 (YES! I know! It’s VERY late), words cannot describe how beautiful, innovative, smartly pulled off the game is. The sound quality was brilliant compared to previous Half Life installments. The bass rocking the room when strider’s were patrolling the room just made it that much more realistic, the roars of the guardian or hunter, nothing less of astonishing. There were a perfect blend of emotions – sad, fear, blissfulness, anger etc. all packed into a 5~6 hour package. It might be the best single player game I’ve played yet.

Gaming Deity Has Come to Light!…But not for me.

18 07 2008

You guys know what I’m talking about! Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 10 years (Sorry for the cliche), yes E3 2008 is finally upon us! Sourcing the latest on gaming media and shattering rumors to pieces. Yes, i wish i could tell you more, but I’VE been living under a rock for … a week.

You see, I’ve ran off to the Snowy Mountains here in Australia, enjoying the luxury of a lodge, being pampered in the spa with a simple hot chocolate in one hand. Looking out into the pure whiteness. Right now I’m typing this up via a mediocre Wireless connection in the lodge. No gaming for me this week, the connection is not sufficient. I will tho, enjoy snowboarding right after I blog this. I’m sure you guys are reading or viewing the updates from E3 from various websites. I have heard some spicy news, and I’m sure there are more yet to come. But, for now, I’ll be enjoying the time i spend here.

Good dose of gaming this week!

5 07 2008

I haven’t posted in a while, why? – SSBB is addictive. As some would know i bought SSBB, just over a week ago.

i racked in about 20 hours so far, and still going strong. There is just so many things to do, not just that but some features have replay value in them, especially multiplayer and Wi-Fi. The curse of Wii owners are, thier aren’t many ‘hardcore’ games out there, it’s either Play and Throw Away or Play and Give Up… most likely the second option. This game, isn’t like that which surprised me, i played hours on end and didn’t stop!

One highlight of the game, which i find really enjoyable to play is the Subspace Emissary, which is basically your Single-Player for SSBB. It is your ordinary side-viewed platformer, it incorporates the unlocking features of the game, so it’s keeps it interesting – but be warned, it may take 8+ Hours to unlock Sonic/Snake, which may be a bummer (especially when people rub it into your face when your playing via Wi-Fi). Although there it doesn’t go TOO deep with Subspace Emissary, it wasn’t a necessary feature to add to the game, so kudos to the developers. I did find a problem tho, the Wi-Fi mode is very agitating,  as it may lag time to time but at other times you may have a perfectly lag free round. This has eased out as the days rolled by, so i’m guessing i was playing players outside of Australia, as there might of not been enough players to find, nevertheless the pro’s outweight the con’s tremendously. If you haven’t yet bought SSBB…What are you doing?! Get off your ass and grab a copy NOW!, I’ve barely touched the tip of the iceberg.

Now, you may have noticed a couple of updates to the blog, if not…you might want to get your eyes checked.

  1. Fresh Banner (What do you think of it?, Sweet ey?)
  2. A snippets corner on the right hand side.
  3. Daily Videos – Haven’t gotten around setting everything up, thanks to SSBB.
  4. Updated ‘Contact Me’ page, get those Emails rolling, quick! I’ve already received a couple :)

The following days, i might not post a blog because i’ve just bought Call Of Duty 4 (Ahh so many games on my mind). Just started on the single player and it’s a blast! It’s very similar to a movie exprience, the storyline is just that good, not to mention the way it’s executed – Perfect. Once i rack up more hours, I’ll tell you how it all goes.

Backordered – Ugly word.

24 06 2008

I pre-ordered a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl online 2 weeks ago, then sent a email to them inquiring about being guaranteed a copy and if I’ll receive it on the release date (26/6 for Australia, yes it’s been quite a delay). So, they did not reply until today, which was a bit suss in itself… I was wondering why they would not reply. After browsing my email’s, i was surprised to find that the company had finally replied just 2 days before it’s release.

In the email it states, that for one – once they receive stock, the shipping time will be stacked, thus i won’t be obtaining my copy on the release day. Second – If they happen to run out of stock, i will have to wait until they receive another batch. Okay, so that was all normal, until the next paragraph…

‘We apologise that we have not been able to supply item(s) within the estimated timeframe. CURRENT STATUS: Backordered by supplier – awaiting receipt” …Backordered, that doesn’t sound too good, ordered back, maybe? After doing a quick search with the ‘Urban Dictionary’ (http://www.urbandictionary.com/ – Great site for your everyday slang) the definition was -

’something you bought online that is not in stock and you will have to wait months and months to receive your merchandise. you will be very pissed.’  …So i have concluded, that it’s not a good thing, neither a positive word. Great.

Luckily for me, i know a mate that work’s as a manager in Toys ‘R’ Us (Yes, the Jew land of all toys), and i’ll be asking to reserve a copy for me! It’s also fairly cheap there…surprisingly. ($76 , RRP $99.99)

Ah, life as a Wii owner. Being on the go, for the games you need.

Bargains are arrogant.

22 06 2008

Just a couple of days ago, i stumbled upon a mind boggling deal, a bargain.

A sweet 37″ Sony Bravia LCD at just $AU999 (About $US950 for all you American readers) . Not true HD, but capable of 720p and 1080p signals.

Features:
37 Inches/ 94cm
Integrated High Definition Digital Tuner: Yes
Native Display Resolution: 1366 x 768
Contrast: 1600:1 (On-Screen)
Response Time: 8ms

HDMI Input: x2
Component In: x2
S-Video in: x2
Composite in: x3
Headphone Out: x1
HD15 / PC Audio Input: x1

Very nice indeed. But wait! to add the icing on the cake, a $100 Cash back is possible on behalf of Sony’s website. That rounds up to $AU899! ($US850). This deal was hot , hot , HOT! I knew i would have to grab one quick.

It’s the next morning, 10:00pm. I scurry to Kmart to ’steal’ my Sony Bravia, as predicted i see people already in the store, one with his Sony Bravia walking out with glee. I start to power walk down aisles…as i spot a small crowd around the Tech area, i run down. It was a sad moment, they have sold all stock in just 20-30 mins, with the last one just being bought. Oh how gloomy the feeling was, it was reminded me of how damn hard it was to get your hands on a Nintendo Wii.

Bargains are truly arrogant. The moral of this blog? Camp out for bargains, which i would personally never do, as i see it as stupid.

A fresh face surrounded by many faces.

16 06 2008

Wow! Many friend’s say I’ll become addicted to blogging in a few days. I’ve become addicted in 30 mins! The sheer pleasure of just decorating my little space in this gigantic cyber world is just too much to bear, i could compare it to a young girl playing with her Barbie doll, or even maybe, a teenager applying her make up. Okay, maybe i sound a little paranoid and no this is not my first time experiencing the internet.

There are many reasons i started blogging. For starters, i enjoy entertaining a audience and also holding their interest (yes, I’m asking you to bookmark this page right now!), it brings me satisfaction, as if I’m doing something right, which i rarely do to be honest! Expressing myself is a hobby, especially if the topic is something I’m good at, or enjoy doing. Strangely, i also had a urge to start blogging just to improve my grammar and overall English, why? may you ask, to pursue a career in journalism.

Now enough talk about me, i have purposely left out my personal detail’s, as i think it’s more ‘interesting’ for YOU guys, to keep thinking about my details -grins- and, I’m quite young. This blog will be dedicated to technology, and that’s a broad term. Everything from gaming to gadgets to consoles to even how microscopic twin copper transistors work…don’t rely on me for that one. It’ll be a mix of the technology world, and the happenings of my world, of course it’ll have to be everything related to technology! Hopefully, I’ll be able to deliver a blog a day, maybe even two blogs a day, that’s if i don’t receive too much homework! (Well that’s a hint for you guys). It won’t always be a, i blog – you read routine tho, I’ll try my best to include you guys, in many blogs.

I hope that this blog will keep you tech savvy guys interested for a long time coming!
